A rousing thriller involving big-box bullies, government co-conspirators and shady financiers. A fast-paced tale of China's intentional efforts to control the buying decisions of Americans by destroying large segments of the US manufacturing industry...and how a little guy can do something against the big guy.

A Dickensonian view into the future, with players currently in our midst...I am well travelled and read but have seldom in my life been more drawn into a fictional work. I read several books a week, but found myself drifting off into countless tangents as I worked my way thru this possible view of the future. It might be said that Pat DePaolo is a modern Jules Verne but that does not tell the story. That is about good and evil, the two conditions of awareness which are always with us.

The Beijing Games is a suspenseful brew of intrigue, flight and malefactions too grisly to tell here. Mr. DePaolo is obviously acquainted with the worlds of high finance, international trade and comglomerates, where greed and ruthlessness flourish like bacilli. It's cast of characters is international and barogue. The villains' reach is long and they hold life cheap. The conspirators would all find lago or Simon Legree congenial, but the most viperfish of the lot are the Chinese. Mr. DePaolo has a good story to tell.
